Biographical sketch:
Mathias Pollock is the Program Coordinator for Student PSR at the national office of Physicians for Social Responsibility. Prior to joining PSR, Mathias received his Masters in Public Health from the University of Arizona where he also coordinated the Honors College Civic Engagement program. From 2007-‘10 Mathias served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bolivia and Ecuador where he worked as a community health educator. During his service he helped to develop and implement an HIV-prevention program that has trained dozens of advocates and reached hundreds of people in communities throughout Ecuador.
Mathias’ experience with culturally diverse and under-served populations, both domestically and abroad, left him inspired to seek avenues to raise awareness and advocate for social change. His goal for 2012 is to energize and expand PSR’s student network and to develop an advocacy training program to empower the next generation of healthcare professionals. He lives in Washington, DC and is a lifelong baseball fan.
