This spring, PSR chapters in 15 states will take advantage of an excellent "teachable moment" to promote nuclear disarmament. Representatives from the 188 countries party to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty will gather in New York April 27 for the once-every-five-years NPT Review Conference. Read more »

March 24th is the "soft deadline" for a comprehensive agreement between the "P5+1" nations and with Iran. The goal is to have the outline of an agreement by this date with time to work out all of the details by June 30th. Read more »

The federal budget request was released on time this year (for the first time in many years) on Feb. 2, 2015. Not surprisingly, the biggest chunk of our money is going to defense spending – roughly $534.3 billion out of the total one trillion dollar budget request. Read more »

The Iran Talks have already made significant progress by placing a temporary freeze on Iran’s nuclear program through the Joint Plan of Action (JPOA). The current negotiations are to ensure a permanent resolution to the problem. Read more »

Perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) have been in use for more than 60 years. These chemicals are applied as water-, soil- and stain-resistant coatings for clothing and other textiles and grease-resistant coatings for food wrapping materials. They have been linked to cancer, immunotoxicity and birth defects. Read more »

The deadline for a diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear program was extended from Nov. 24th until July 1st, 2015. This is great news since it allows more time to let diplomacy work. However, there are hardliners in Congress who would like to add additional sanctions against Iran in the hopes of pressuring them to accept an agreement. Read more »

On Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7, more than 600 campaigners gathered in Vienna in the largest ever civil society meeting on the abolition of nuclear weapons, the Vienna Civil Society Forum, organized by the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. Read more »
