More Global Heat Records Smashed

The world just had the hottest three-month (Jan-Mar) period of any year on record. Temperatures rose by 0.7°F, according to NASA. It may sound small, but monthly changes are usually measured in hundredths of a degree. This smashed the previous record—which btw was just set last year.

The Arctic is one victim of this unceasing temperature rise. On April 13, NASA reported that the rise accelerated the summer melt season in Greenland, with 12 percent of Greenland's ice sheet melting. Rising temperatures also threaten human health.
