Texas has always been considered to be the energy capital of the world. Oil was first discovered here, and the majority of the world's oil exploration and production expertise is based here. However, most of the oil consumed by the United States now comes from overseas.
Many sources of this oil are located in countries with dictatorship style governments that lack an appreciation for basic human rights.
