  • November 14, 2009 - Annual Boston Institute for the Development of Infants and Parents Conference at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology - Emerging scientific evidence alerts us to the ways that environmental toxins affect children’s brains, bodies and behavior... This conference will present cutting-edge research on the effects of toxins — such as lead, food additives, and endocrine disruptors found in plastics, cans and other sources — on intellectual, emotional and physical development.   • MA Relocalization Conference Oct. 18, 2009 in Roxbury, MA - GBPSR co-sponsored the inspirational Massachusetts Relocalization conference held Sunday, October 18th at the Reggie Lewis Center at Roxbury Community College. Despite a driving rain over 100 people from all corners of Massachusetts as well as other New England states attended to hear inspirational talks from keynote speakers including Frances Moore Lappe and Bill McKibben, and to participate in workshops addressing everything from green jobs to sustainable communities.   • March 1, 2010 - Grand Rounds, Metrowest Medical Center - March 1st, 2010, 12:00-1:00 PM - Natick, MA - Dr. Jill Stein. The Grand Rounds event was very well received and attended, with 55 people signing in, among which were doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, therapists, and administrators.

  • September 21, 2009 - Public testimony to the NIH Office of Research on Women's Health, Providence RI. Discussed the report testimony and submitted a copy of the report to the panel, who are deciding the ORWH research agenda for the next 12 years.
  • September 15-16, 2009 - Centers for Disease Control conference "Promoting Environmental and Policy Change to Support Healthy Aging" in Chapel Hill, NC. GBPSR exhibited our Environmental Threats to Healthy Aging report at this conference. Learn more about the event.
  • August 7, 2009 - Presentation at Goddard College, VT as part of new curriculum on Social and Ecological Medicine
  • Dr. Jill Stein gave a well received talk on August 6 at the 2009 Florida Public Health Association and Southern Health Association Joint Annual Educational Conference (August 4-7) in Palm Beach Gardens, FL to an audience drawn from attendees from 8 southern public health associations. Her presentation, "Chronic Disease and Climate Change: Common Causes, Common Solutions: Why Low Carbon Living Is Good For Your Health," drew on the findings of the Healthy Aging report, describing key environmental factors that are driving both chronic disease and the climate crisis.   • June 24-26, 2009 - Dr. Jill Stein detailed the findings of GBPSR's Healthy Aging report at the Association of Nutrition Services Agencies (ANSA) 2009 Annual Conference, co-present with the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs (NANASP), in Atlanta, GA.   • May 7, 2009 - The Collaborative on Health and the Environment (CHE) hosted a partnership call on metabolic syndrome [a cluster of conditions occurring together that elevate a person's risk of developing certain chronic diseases such heart disease, stroke and diabetes and its intersection with what is being called the Western Disease Cluster].   • May 5, 2009 - AARP Prime Time Radio interview with Drs. Jill Stein and Ted Schettler
  • April 23, 2009 - Coyne Healthcare Center in Rockland, MA - Dr. Jill Stein presented and participated in a discussion with professionals on environmental factors in neurodegenerative illness.
  • March 26, 2009 - TampaBay PSR and the University of Southern Florida held a CE conference to educate health care providers about the threat of global climate change and the associated health effects of exposure to toxic chemicals.   • May, 2009 - Massachusetts Disarmament Action Network (DAN) Somerville TV Forum

    GBPSR is a member of The Massachusetts Disarmament Action Network (DAN), which debuted "Getting to a Nuclear Weapons-Free World", a 1/2 hour television roundtable featuring members of DAN discussing the past, present, and future of nuclear weapons, and how our groups are working for their global elimination.   • April 21, 2009 - "Loose Nukes and the Unresolved Nuclear Threat - - 2009"

    Dr. John Pastore, Co-Chair of the GBPSR Steering Committee, gave a highly successful hour-long presentation to 75 members of the "Concerned Citizens" of Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA on "Loose Nukes and the Unresolved Nuclear Threat -- 2009", followed by more than forty-five minutes of questions. The presentation was recorded on video, and was broadcast on their in-house station daily for a week so those who could not attend would see and hear the talk.

  • April 17, 2009 - Environmental Health Doctoral Seminar on Iraq War Casualties

    At the Environmental Health doctoral seminar at the Boston University School of Public Health, Dr. David Rush, Co-Chair of the GBPSR Steering Committee, presented a summary of the estimates of civilian casualties in the Iraq War, and the various arguments for and against these estimates, to a group of doctoral students and faculty in the Department of Environmental Health. The doctoral students were very engaged and appreciated Dr. Rush's perspective as an experienced epidemiologist.
