Tell President Obama to abolish the Nuclear Loan Guarantee Program.

PSR is an active member of the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families (SCHF) coalition which is undertaking a nationwide effort to keep harmful chemicals in check and protect public health via reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
To inform the public about the problem and to advance the prospect of this reform happening, the coalition has released the report The Health Case for Reforming the Toxic Substances Control Act, which cites GBPSR's Environmental Threats to Healthy Aging report as one of its primary resources.
TSCA, originally passed in 1976, was legislated to keep toxic chemicals out of our homes, workplaces, and everyday products, but, it isn't working, as Greater Boston PSR publications have asserted for many years. In the 34 years since TSCA was enacted, the EPA has been able to require testing on just 200 of the more than 80,000 chemicals produced and used in the U.S., and just five chemicals have been regulated under this law.
By updating TSCA, we have a chance to fix its problems and to protect current and future generations from serious harm. Congress can create the foundation for a sound and comprehensive chemicals policy that protects public health and the environment, while restoring the luster of safety to U.S. goods in the world market. Campaign goals include requiring chemical manufacturers to demonstrate the safety of products, development and promotion of safer alternatives, and protection of those most vulnerable.
