Take Action

Tell Congress you won’t support phony chemicals policy reform -- only real, health-protective reform.

PSR Harrisburg, Jan 8,2014 public meeting

January 10, 2014

Forty eager listeners learned how the A C A will benefit many uninsured persons, but leave 20 million people still uninsured--mostly because 25 states have not accepted Medicaid expansion and the law excludes illegal immigrants.

Administration costs of American Health care are 31% of health care expenditures--much higher than any country with a single payer system. And admin costs will increase under the ACA. Every medical procedure and drug costs much more in the US because there
is not a unified power to negotiate pricing as there is in England, Canada, Germany, etc.

Medicare is a single payer system as is the VA and these agencies do have some negotiating power. One of the best features of the ACA is the elimination of " pre-existing conditions from new policies. Medicare always does insure all eligible patients without regard to pre-existing illnesses.

The impetus for a single payer system in the US is on hold now, until we see how the ACA plays out over the next few years.
