Save the UI Center for Human Rights

December 10, 2012
Iowa City, Iowa

Time: 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm
Location: The Steps of the Old Capitol in the Pentacrest

The University of Iowa plans to close the UICHR in a decision made without input from UI students, faculty, or the state-wide Iowa community.

Over more than the last decade, Iowa PSR and UICHR have been key allies in a number of joint educational programs. Iowa PSR has organized a full page Signature Ad in to run in local newspapers to oppose dissolution of the UICHR. Thanks to all who have donated dollars and quotes for the Ad.

The deadline for adding your name to the Ad has passed. But we are still accepting donations as we are still a few hundred dollars short of the final cost.

The date of publication will be International Human Rights Day, December 10, 2012 on the 64th Anniversary of the signing of the International Declaration of Human Rights.

There will be a reading of the Declaration and Community Speak-Out on the Steps of the Old Capitol in the Pentacrest in Iowa City at 12:30 PM - 1:00 PM, Monday December 10. PSR's Dr. Maureen McCue will speak on the importance of human rights to health and a life sustaining climate and environment.
