Priest, author and activist, John Dear has worked for peace and justice all over the world. He has been arrested numerous times for civil disobedience, and in 2008 was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

What: 21st Annual Salem Peace Lecture: “Visioning Peace: Toward a Just and Sustainable World”

The Reverend Paul LaRue, retired United Methodist clergyman, will be honored as the recipient of the Salem Peacemaker Award, which is presented annually at the Salem Peace Lecture.

The lecture is convened by the Office of the Chaplains at Willamette University, Oregon PeaceWorks and Peace Plaza Incorporated. It is sponsored by many Salem area faith groups and community organizations. A complete list will appear in the program.
