50th Anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom

Please join Oregon PSR and other co-sponsors as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.

When: Saturday, August 24th beginning at 10:00 AM (rally, speakers and music at 1:00 PM at South Waterfront Park)

Where: March from Terry Schrunk Plaza to South Waterfront Park (view the march route map)

The 1963 march, which attracted an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 people, is known as the event where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

To join other Oregon PSR members for this march, please meet at the Salmon Street Fountain at 9:50 AM and look for the green Oregon PSR banner.

Portland’s event is co-sponsored by the Albina Ministerial Alliance Coalition for Justice and Police Reform, the Urban League of Portland, NAACP of Portland, Oregon Historical Society, Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, Oregon PSR and other groups.
