Annual Salem Peace Lecture to Feature Environmentalist & Author Maude Barlow

Maude Barlow is an international best-selling author and citizen activist. She has worked tirelessly for environmental sustainability and water justice. She will present the 24th Annual Salem Peace Lecture.

When: Wednesday, October 23rd  beginning at 7:30 PM

Where: Hudson Recital Hall in the Mary Stuart Rogers Music Center at Willamette University in Salem

Ms. Barlow is the chair of the board of Food & Water Watch, a councilor with the Hamburg-based World Future Council, and founder of the Blue Planet Project. Her topic will be "Climate Change and Resource Wars: Keeping the Peace on a Rapidly Changing Planet."

This event is free and open to the entire community.

Each year at the Peace Lecture an outstanding peace activist is honored with the Salem Peacemaker Award. This year Erin and the late Phil Hanni will receive the award.

This event is convened by Peace Plaza, Inc., Oregon PeaceWorks, the Salem Chapter of the United Nations Association, and the Office of the Chaplains at Willamette University. It is also sponsored by many Salem area faith groups and community organizations.
