Coal ash is toxic. Tell President Obama that protection from coal ash contamination has to be robust, mandatory and nationwide.
Oregon PSR volunteer and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Maxine Fookson is once again headed to Gaza for the Washington/Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility Health Delegation. She and the other members of the delegation will be providing on-the-ground health care services and delivering much-needed supplies, consulting on mental health issues and issues of loss and bereavement, teaching, and learning about the public and environmental health situation in Gaza.
The delegates will carry not only their medical, nursing, and counseling tools, but also the message that Gaza is not forgotten. Both Maxine and Gerri Haynes, former Board President for Washington PSR, will be blogging about their experiences in Gaza, and we encourage you to follow their journeys. Here is a recent excerpt from Maxine’s blog:
“At every turn, one sees the resiliency of the people of Gaza. Life is so totally hard and there is such ongoing trauma and injustice. The political situation really feels hopeless. And yet, the people of Gaza do not seem to let it stop the determination to learn, to be excellent health care providers, nurses, teachers, social service workers, etc. The level of education and ingenuity is unmatched and is totally inspiring.”
