Coal ash is toxic. Tell President Obama that protection from coal ash contamination has to be robust, mandatory and nationwide.
Join Oregon PSR and our partners at Columbia Riverkeeper and the Power Past Coal coalition for Momenta, a documentary about coal exports that captures stories from the mines of Montana and Wyoming to the ports threatened by Big Coal. With stunning footage of the American West and unique stories about coal export, the climate and our clean energy future, Momenta has been named one of the best documentaries of last year.
WHEN: Thursday, January 16th, doors at 7:00 PM, film starts at 8:00 PM
WHERE: Patagonia Portland (in the Ecotrust Building at 907 NW Irving Street in Portland)
$10 suggested donation at the door, includes raffle ticket for outdoor gear, beer available for purchase. No one turned away for lack of funds.
Momenta is narrated by world-renowned climber Conrad Anker and features environmentalist Bill McKibben, along with Columbia Riverkeeper’s Executive Director Brett VandenHeuvel and others.
"Momenta is about you, me, everyone who lives here, loves it and cares about what happens to our planet," says Eric Wallis, the Portland-based producer of Momenta. "We set out making this film to demonstrate the overwhelming unpopularity of coal export and crossroads of the American West: old innovation vs. new. We want it to be a step towards winning the campaign against coal export."
Proceeds from the Portland screening will support ongoing Power Past Coal efforts, taking the film to the threatened places it features and beyond.
