Healthy Food in Health Care Resources

  • Sustainable Food Policies - A Guide to Developing a Sustainable Food Purchasing Policy: This document is intended to help universities, colleges, hospitals, and other institutions - as well as those advocating for food system change - create, promote and implement practical sustainable food purchasing policies. This valuable resource was developed by Food Alliance.  You may download the Guide to Developing a Sustainable Food Purchasing Policy and view related policy examples on the companion web site.
    FoodMed - This conference is designed to help participants incorporate sustainable and nutritious food purchasing at their facilities, and learn cost effective strategies that emphasize health concerns that meet the unique needs of healthcare and facilitate the development of healthy communities.
  • Healthy Food in Health Care Initiative - Oregon PSR partners with Health Care Without Harm on the Oregon Healthy Food in Health Care Project to employ market-based forces to increase demand for sustainably produced foods, improve hospital food quality, educate the public, and bolster the local economy.   The principal goal of the project is to leverage the significant purchasing power and influence of hospitals to support regional markets for fresh, sustainable food, and to model healthy food choices to the public.
