Sustainable Hospitals Project

Oregon PSR works with local hospitals and health systems to support hospitals in improving their ecological footprint thereby reducing potential harm their buildings and operations might have on their employees, patients, visitors, community and environment. 

HCWH has support Oregon hospitals in sustainability efforts since 2000 through a partnership with Oregon Center for Environmental Health (OCEH).  Significant successes were realized in the areas of waste and recycling, electronics management, environmentally preferred purchasing, among others.  We applaud these hospitals for their significant work and are proud to continue to provide support. 

What we do:

• Support Oregon Sustainable Hospitals Roundtable - a group of hospital facilities representatives that meet several times per year to learn about new issues, tools and resources and share strategies and successes.
• Support pilot projects that test and model best practices in ecological sustainability in healthcare.
• Distribute information on new resources, tools, advocacy opportunities and educational events.
