Today, PSR is joining with dozens of organizations, representing millions of Americans, calling on the U.S. Senate to pass clean energy and climate legislation. Please tell your Senators that we can no longer delay action if we are to protect our health and the health of future generations from catastrophic climate change.

The 2010 SPSR Leadership Summit will coincide with the biannual PSR Board Meeting.  The purpose of the summit is manifold:

  1. To provide foundational education around SPSR's core areas of concern that leaders can then pass on to their chapters
  2. To develop leadership skills and tools that will help leaders strengthen their chapters and increase sustainability
  3. To connect leaders with each other, PSR leaders in their respective areas area, and national PSR leaders.

We would like to extend an invitation to one (or more) representative from each chapter to attend this meeting.  Since one of our end-goals is to increase sustainability of school chapters, we ideally would like to welcome potential future student chapter leaders, but any students interested in the conference are welcome to register.

NOTE THAT WHILE THE CONFERENCE IS FREE, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED AND SPOTS ARE LIMITED! See the registration link to the left to register.

SPSR National has some money to help out with travel costs and we are encouraging local PSR chapters to sponsor students to attend.  To apply for the scholarship, visit the travel scholarship page.  We will only be awarding scholarships to students within the US; students outside of the US should refer to their local IPPNW student chapter for more information on participating in our international affiliates.  The deadline is March 20th, 2010.  The application is quick and simple.  Since our priority is to have at least one representative from each school attend, only one scholarship will be given to each school.  If there is money left over, we will open up the application process again.

This conference will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about important public health issues, meet some of the key people who are affecting positive change around these issues, and acquire some skills that will help you become a more effective organizer.
