Volunteer

Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility is primarily a volunteer-based organization. From issues committees, to our Speakers' Bureau Listed, to newspaper opinion pieces, to coordinating and assisting at workshops and events, WPSR depends on the expertise, time and generosity of its members. Committee Work
WPSR's committees each meet once monthly and are open to the public. For information about the committee that suits your interest, please see below:

• Environment & Human Health Committee
  The E&HH committee addresses local and global environmental issues including medical waste management, air and water quality and global climate change. The committee also does work to keep children (and adults!) safe from toxins in the environment. To attend a meeting, contact:

• Hanford Task Force
  The HTF works to promote cleanup at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, prevent further environmental disasters, and prevent new weapons production. To attend a meeting, contact:

• Board of Directors
  Board meetings are open to WPSR members and take place on the third Thursday of each month, excepting August. If you are interested in being a leader in this organization, contact Linda.

• Development Committee
  The Development Committee is charged with providing support and value to our members, fundraising and acknowledging our generous funders and donors. To join one of our meetings, contact Linda, Development Staff.

• Disarmament & Security Committee
  We will be starting a Disarmament & Security Committee this year, which will address the issues of nuclear non-proliferation, the military and WA state, port security, oil dependancy and other cross-cutting issues. If you are interested in being on this committee, please contact Linda.

Office Support
Perhaps you would like to get into the nitty-gritty of non-proft work. To join us for mailings, give computer input, assist on events, our quarterly newsletter and/or our website, contact Peter Pan.

Violence Prevention Programs
The Docs, Cops & Bullies program teaches middle school students the legal and medical consequences of gun violence. WPSR also works on promoting common sense gun legislation to promote public health. If you are a medical professional or a law enforcement officer, you can be trained to lead these presentations. For more info:
