Conference: Toward a Fundamental Change in Nuclear Weapons Policy

PSR is proud to co-sponsor “Toward a Fundamental Change in Nuclear Weapons Policy” on April 27 at the United States Capitol Visitor Center. The all-day conference will bring together an array of disarmament activists, including policy experts, scientists, and faith leaders. Panelists will examine current approaches to U.S. nuclear weapons policy, including how Congress can take action to reduce nuclear dangers and honor U.S. disarmament obligations. Amidst the ongoing Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty negotiations occurring at the U.N. in New York, speakers will also discuss the role of the U.S. in global disarmament efforts.
Conference speakers include Hiroshima atomic bomb survivor, Setsuko Thurlow, Co-Director of the Project on Peace and Security in South Asia at the Woodrow Wilson School, Zia Mian, Global Zero Co-Founder, Bruce Blair, Arms Control Association Executive Director, Daryl G. Kimball, Reaching Critical Will Director, Ray Acheson, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War Co-President Ira Helfand, MD, and Representative Hank Johnson of Georgia.
The conference has twenty co-sponsoring NGOs and faith-based organizations.
