Lanterns for Peace 2017

This family-friendly event is organized around the world in remembrance of the devastating humanitarian effects of the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan during World War II. This year's speaker is Caren Stelson, author of Sachiko: A Nagasaki Bomb Survivor’s Story, a 2017 Jane Addams Children's Book Award recipient. Her book retells the true story of six-year-old Sachiko Yasui's survival of the Nagasaki atomic bomb and the lifelong aftermath.

This event is sponsored by Physicians for Social Responsibility-Wisconsin in collaboration with Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Pax Christi-Madison, P.C Foundation, Linda and Gene Farley Center for Peace, Justice and Sustainability, Outrider Foundation, Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity-Gamma Theta Chapter and Willy St. Co-Op.
