On Our Radar
We continue to monitor the ongoing nuclear reactor crisis at the Fukushima nuclear station in the wake of the largest earthquake in Japanese history (8.9). Of the six reactors in the complex, three have experienced explosions in the reactor containment buildings with another one experiencing fire in its spent fuel pools. Japanese officials have ordered the evacuation of 200,000 individuals in the 30km range and have ordered the remaining 140,000 to seal themselves in their homes because of radiation concerns.
NuclearBailout.org is a project of the Safe Energy Program at Physicians for Social Responsibility. We created this website and campaign in order to address the economic and safety realities of the development of new nuclear reactors.
