Congress needs to hear from you!
April 19, 2017
Tell your member of Congress what an important role EPA plays in protecting our air and climate.
The U.S. EPA's budget today is already 20 percent lower than it was in 2010. Now, President Trump is proposing to cut EPA funding by 31 percent next year. This would leave vital programs unfunded and put your family's and community’s health at risk.
Now is the time to speak out. Find a Town Hall meeting in your community. Urge your senators and representative to tell the Trump administration to step up diplomatic overtures to North Korea and step back from brinkmanship.
Search for a Town Hall in your community here.
If you are unable to attend a Town Hall, make your voice heard by calling or emailing your senators' or representative's offices.
Ask your senators or representative whether they support the president's harmful proposed cuts to EPA. If they don't, ask them what they will do to ensure that EPA is fully funded at current budget levels and that programs to reduce carbon pollution are not eliminated.
As if the Administration budget proposal wasn't destructive enough, some members of Congress are threatening to include dangerous policy riders in appropriations bills (these are the bills that fund the government) that reward big polluters like the fossil fuel industry. Riders are unrelated provisions—usually controversial ones—that are added to a bill in the hopes of getting them passed.
Tell your members of congress not to include special-interest riders in appropriations legislation.
Getting rid of clean air and climate protections has nothing to do with funding our government. These measures could not become law on their own merits. That's why some lawmakers are trying to attach them to "must-pass" appropriations bills.
Tell your senators and representative to stand up for clean air, a sustainable climate and public health by voting against EPA budget cuts and harmful policy riders.
