Reject FERC Nominees!

July 20, 2017

Please help us reject the nominations of two men proposed to join the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), a body that has been called "a federal regulator that almost never says no."

FERC commissioners will make decisions in the coming months that could result in 2,500 miles of new and expanded methane (natural gas) pipelines that would double the amount of fracked gas that could flow out of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

We don't need that gas—but more pipelines means more fracking wells releasing toxic air and water pollution.

It means more pipelines and compressor stations, extending those toxic threats to communities located far from wells. It means delaying the transition to clean, renewable forms of energy.

And because methane is a potent heat-trapping gas, it intensifies the climate change crisis for all of us.

Ask your senators to vote "no" on President Trump’s two FERC nominees, Neil Chatterjee and Robert Powelson. Their records make it clear that they will do little or nothing to stop FERC’s rubber-stamping of fracked gas pipelines and compressor stations. Ask your senators to stand up against unneeded pipelines and vote instead for health, the climate, and clean air and drinkable water.
