Stop this stealth attack on Clean Air!

March 8, 2012

It defies belief.

An amendment to a proposed Senate transportation bill would delay for up to 15 years air pollution controls on incinerators and industrial boilers.

In addition, it would ban the EPA from applying effective levels of control technology -- ever.

Incinerators and industrial boilers are the nation’s second-largest source of industrial toxic air pollution.  They emit mercury -- a potent neurotoxin that damages the developing brain -- and air toxics, substances known or suspected to cause cancer and other serious illnesses even at low exposures.

Take Action!

The proposed amendment is an outrageous and unacceptable effort to dismantle the Clean Air Act, America’s premier legislation for assuring us all healthy air to breathe.

Write your senators today.  Tell them: Oppose the "Collins Amendment" (SA 1660 to S.1813).  It would do unacceptable harm to our health.
