Catastrophic and unconstitutional

November 2, 2017

We are determined to do everything we can to prevent war with North Korea. Experts agree that there is no viable "military option" to resolve the conflict. Even a conventional war with North Korea would kill hundreds of thousands of civilians within the first few days of fighting.

A military first-strike against North Korea is not only inhumane, it's also unconstitutional. Last week, Representative John Conyers of Michigan, a Korean War veteran, introduced urgent legislation to restrict funding for a first-strike against North Korea. The No Unconstitutional Strike Against North Korea Act of 2017 affirms the Constitutional principle that only Congress, not the president, can authorize nuclear or non-nuclear strikes against North Korea. The bill also calls for diplomacy to resolve the conflict. Our leaders in Congress must stand behind this legislation to prevent President Trump's alarming threats to "totally destroy" North Korea from becoming a reality.

We must prevent a humanitarian catastrophe. Contact your members of Congress today.
