Have we learned nothing from Iraq?
Sadly, many of our political leaders have ratcheted up the rhetoric regarding Iran and are openly discussing the possibility of war. We have seen this play out before and it doesn’t end well.
In March 2003, the U.S. began the invasion and occupation of Iraq. After nine years, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and thousands of Americans have lost their lives. As Iraq attempts to struggle to recover from a catastrophic sectarian conflict and devastated infrastructure -- the hawks in our nation are eying their next prize.

As citizens in this democracy, it is our responsibility to ensure our government does not attack another country in our name. While we should work with the international community to convince Iran to stop pursuing a dual-use nuclear program, we know that a war would lead to devastating health consequences. Write your Representative now to let them know that, as a constituent, you want them to urge diplomatic engagement with Iran.
As rhetoric from Congress and key leaders continues to build the case for a war with Iran, we must push back to ensure that diplomacy has a chance to work.
On the morning of August 6th, air-raid sirens sounded just after 7:00 AM. After a while, the all-clear sounded, and people began to move about their daily lives again. Sadako, her grandmother, her mother, and brother Masahiro were eating breakfast together. Sadako Sasaki was 2 years old on August 6th.
