Raise your voice today as part of the growing bipartisan debate on Afghanistan

June 23, 2011

Last night, President Obama addressed the nation about the ongoing war in Afghanistan. The President announced a reduction of 33,000 troops by the end of September 2012. His comments come amidst growing bipartisan debate on the Administration’s strategy and goals in the region.

On June 20th, for the first time since the Vietnam War, the US Conference of Mayors passed a resolution regarding a US military engagement. They bravely called for an end to the US presence in Afghanistan. Now is the time to raise your voice.  The continuation of America’s longest war must be challenged. We are now facing a dangerous situation where President Karzai’s government has little legitimacy, the military situation is stalemated, and the political and economic situation remains fraught with difficulty.

President Obama addressed the need for a political solution led by Afghans but did not go far enough in laying out a detailed transition plan. Please take just a few moments right now while this email is in front of you to use our easy online tool to submit a Letter to The Editor.

While we have provided sample text, your letter will be even more effective if you personalize it to make it your own. If you are a health professional, please identify yourself as such.

You can count on PSR to make sure that your voice is heard on issues that are vital to our health and survival. Can we count on you to submit a Letter to the Editor today?
