Urgent: Contact your senators to avoid undermining Iran diplomacy

January 6, 2014

After decades of threats between Iran and the United States over Iran's nuclear program, things seemed to be sliding toward war. Then, on November 24, came a stunning breakthrough: negotiators for the "P5+1" countries (including the United States) completed an agreement that temporarily halted Iran's nuclear weapons program. The parties agreed to negotiate a more comprehensive arrangement in the next six months. The P5+1 lifted some economic sanctions and promised no new sanctions while negotiations are underway.

In the midst of violence all around the Mideast, it was a huge victory.

Yet, some U.S. Senators have signed onto legislation that threatens new sanctions. These senators threaten to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The stakes could not be higher, because what happens in the next six months could very well make the difference between peace and war.

Please contact your senators and urge them to oppose the Menendez/Kirk sanctions bill. Support our diplomats in this very difficult but crucial negotiation.

You can help prevent a nuclear-armed Iran AND another Mideast war.
