Hiroshima and Nagasaki Commemorations 2012
Thanks to an outpouring of support from all of you, nearly 100 events took place over the past week commemorating the victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Today, we need your help to ensure that our elected officials hear support for nuclear abolition from concerned citizens across the United States.
As the only country to have used nuclear weapons as a weapon of war, we have a unique responsibility to lead on this issue. Over the past few years, we have won important victories on this issue. Yet, with proposed expansions of nuclear weapons facilities in 2013 and increased investment in dangerous enrichment technologies - we know that only our vigilance will keep us on the responsible path. Join us on this important petition and share it with your friends and family.
Later this month, representatives from PSR will be traveling to Hiroshima for the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War’s World Congress. We will be carrying photos from the commemoration events and your petition signatures to the meeting. This will be an opportunity for us to show our solidarity with the Japanese people and demonstrate to the world that there is a strong voice for nuclear abolition in the United States.
