Cold War-era sites at Santa Susana Field Lab to be demolished, feds say

Denise Duffield, associate director of Physicians for Social Responsibility – Los Angeles, said DOE “broke” commitments it made about the demolition of the buildings.

“DOE signed a legally binding agreement with California that, among other things, requires all demolition of SSFL buildings to be only with state approval and requires all debris with radioactivity above background to be disposed of in a licensed radioactive waste disposal facility,” Duffield said in a statement.
