The evening will begin by recognizing that November 11th is Veterans Day, a day to honor the personal sacrifices made by soldiers, veterans, and their families. This program will review the status and mission of the world’s first nuclear protest vessel, the Golden Rule; explore some of the many challenges of military service; summarize the current world situation regarding nuclear weapons; and address practical approaches to increase the realistic possibilities for peace in our lives, our communities, and the world.
Presenters: Robert Gould, MD, President, SF – Bay Area Physicians for Social Responsibility and Paul Chappell, Nuclear Age Peace Foundation – Peace Literacy Advocate.
Dr. Gould will discuss legacy and current issues of nuclear weapons in the context of PSR’s Back from the Brink Campaign, including related organizing efforts in Humboldt County
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Concessions will be available. Part of the Against the Wind Festival, Nov. 11-17, first created to draw attention to the nuclear threat to life on earth and to fuel a new voyage of the first nuclear protest vessel, the Golden Rule.
