Earth Day is an annual event focused on environmental protection. Take a look below at what some of our PSR chapters across the country are doing to support the cause.

PSR Arizona

PSR Arizona is hoping to get Congressman Raul Grijalva’s house bill HR3668, the “Asuncion Valdivia Heat Illness and Fatality Prevention Act” passed in the Senate and its counterpart in the US Senate passed as well by Earth Day. Passing legislation is a great celebration of our planet!

PSR Pennsylvania

PSR Pennsylvania is hosting a Webinar on steps to a clean energy economy and better health presented by Dr. Walter Tsou. The Webinar will be held on April 20th at 6:00 PM Eastern Time.

PSR Harrisburg

PSR Harrisburg has now merged with PSR Pennsylvania, but will continue their Earth Day tradition of planting their Peace Garden. This tradition began in 1995, and the chapter plants 1,500 annuals each Spring.

PSR Pioneer Valley

PSR/Pioneer Valley worked with GBPSR and a wonderful coalition of local environmental justice organizations to get state approval cancelled for a proposed biomass incinerator that was scheduled for construction right in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Springfield, MA. The company is planning to appeal; we will continue to support efforts to block this environmental hazard.

PSR Iowa

PSR Iowa is installing a wall of educational materials in their local Iowa City library titled “Pathways to Make Every Day Earth Day”. The installation will be accompanied by additional posters, pamphlets, and assorted resources for more information about related topics: climate and health, climate and infectious disease, and climate and clean water.

PSR San Francisco

PSR San Francisco encourages the celebration of Earth Day through their upcoming event, Electrification of Buildings: Climate, Health, Justice. Electrification of buildings is a critical step toward decarbonization, improved health, and health equity, protecting our health and the health of our planet. The event will be held on April 28 at 7:00 pm Pacific Time.
